FAQs
-
Not at all! The amBi Book Club is centered on bi stories and bi community — but bi people, queer people, questioning people, allies, and anyone interested in bi books are welcome to join 💙💜🩷
-
Nope. Life gets busy. You are welcome to join the discussion even if you only read part of the book, listened to the audiobook, skimmed sections, or just want to hear what others thought.
-
The amBi Book Club meets online through the amBi Discord. Book announcements, casual discussion, reminders, and live event details will all be shared there.
-
The book club meets once a month. Each month, amBi announces one featured book connected to bisexuality and hosts a casual online discussion.
-
We may read novels, memoirs, essays, nonfiction, comics, graphic novels, poetry, or other books connected to bisexuality. A book may be selected because the author is bi, a main character is bi, bisexuality is part of the story, or the book explores bi history, culture, identity, or community.
-
Yes! Physical books, ebooks, and audiobooks all count. Read in whatever format works best for you.
-
The live discussion may include spoilers, especially once people start talking about the full book. In Discord, we’ll do our best to keep spoiler-heavy conversations clearly marked so people can participate at their own pace.
-
The book is selected by the amBi team. We also ask members for suggestions or votes on future books, and put them up for a vote on our socials.
Members are welcome to suggest books for future book club picks. Suggested books should have a meaningful connection to bisexuality, whether through the author, characters, themes, or subject matter. -
No. You can participate as much or as little as you want. You’re welcome to talk, type in the chat, react, listen quietly, or just hang out.
-
Sure thing! Joining the amBi Bi Book Club is free. Participants are responsible for getting their own copy of the book, but we encourage people to check libraries, ebook apps (like Libby), used bookstores, and audiobook options.
-
Yes! The book club is a great way to get involved with amBi, especially if you are new, don’t have a local chapter nearby, or want to connect with bi community online.
-
Keep the conversation respectful, welcoming, and community-minded. Different people may have different reactions to the same book, and that’s part of the fun. We ask everyone to engage in good faith and help keep the space friendly for bi people and allies.
