Let's celebrate the new year by hiking to the top of two prominent peaks in the Verdugo Mountain range, Mt Thom (2,460 ft) and Tongva Peak (2,656 ft.).

Tongva Peak is only .6 miles away from Mt Thom. Gentle incline from Mt Thom.
There is a wonderful 360 - degree view of Glendale at Mt Thom.Well behaved dogs on a leash are allowed.Search and Rescue highly recommends letting people know who you travel with, starting and ending trailhead. Start time and approx end time. Checking in afterwards that you're back safe. I usually take a picture of the meetup group's homepage and adding extra time so people don't worry about me. For safety, I always carry my Garmin, which is a satellite GPS to contact search and Rescue in case anyone gets severely injured.
